This happy monkeys picture was not taken by a wildlife photographer but instead by a group of crested black macaques in Indonesia. Photographer David Slater was visiting the park when he decided to get up close to the animals. After teaming up with a local tour guide David spent three days with the animals to understand their way of living.
"I walked with them for about three days in a row - They befriended us and showed absolutely no aggression - they were just interested in the things that I was carrying."
The photo shoot took place after David had set up his camera on a tripod. After leaving the equipment for a few minutes upon return he found a series of images of posing monkeys!
