Coulsdon College Visual Arts and Media end of year show 2017

Welcome to the Coulsdon Sixth Form College end of year show! What a success it has been! An amazing year with amazing students. This year will be showing with media and performing arts and celebrating the success of the huge range of courses that Coulsdon Sixth Form provide.

Coulsdon BTEC perform with London Mozart Players

We have had the pleasure of performing outside of college many times in the past, but nothing as intimate and pleasurable than the London Mozart Players performance at Mathews Yard.

The London Mozart Players asked our BTEC 90 credit students to create a series of graphics to run in conjunction with their show. They wanted to have the images reflect the themes and ideas in the show but not to detract.

The first piece was Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet NO:8, a piece said to have been dedicated to 'the victims of war and fascism.' Our students focused on that and wanted to reflect their feelings of the World around them and current issues effecting the world.

It was a wonderful experience for all involved and we hope to doing it again.

Coulsdon College Sixth Form perform at box park.

Below is a selection of images from our Coulsdon College Music show at Box Park in Croydon.

What a success it was, with A/level Graphics Students showing work, BTEC Music Performance and Dance students performing and BTEC Music Tech students mastering the sound. A/level Graphics and BTEC Extended Diploma students created backdrops for the show, using Photoshop to create stunning backdrop graphics.

More to come in the future we feel, watch out for 2017.

PANTO! Alice in Wonderland

Coulsdon Sixth Form College's annual pantomime 'Alice in Wonderland' is coming soon.

The show has been produced in collaboration between the Performing Arts, Dance and Visual Arts students.  The resulting production will be shown 3 times, to local primary schools, staff and students.

A2 Photography: Variations on a theme

Over the next few weeks we post the work of our A2 photography group, who are creating a range of outcomes based on the 'Enhanced Image.'

This series of photographs will develop their understanding of digital and darkroom photography and expand their skills in traditional and contemporary materials, techniques and technology.

We start with the digital image.

AS Photography: Cameraless Photography

Coulsdon Sixth Form AS Photography students have been busy!

At the start of the AS Photography course students were asked to produce a range of prints inspired by their surroundings, personal life and the everyday.

BTEC L3 Hever Castle Visit

Every year the BTEC L3 Art and Design courses take a trip to a major tourist destination as part of their first terms studies. This trip provides the students with a wide range of first hand primary observational material; but is also invaluable in bonding the students together, giving them the confidence to explore and discover as a group.

This year we visited historic Hever Castle in Kent. Hever is known for its stunning 13th century castle and surrounding landscaped grounds that host jousting, arts and crafts fairs and a range of children's activities.

Hever certainly did not disappoint, with its students and staff inspired by the beautifully set gardens and tudor age arts ad crafts.  

This trip will now provide all the material needed for the students first projects in Fine Art, Textiles and Graphics.
